i've been travelling for 9 months and just got home. i played from the factions release till gwen but never brought it as i quit that month. i'd played through all 3 campaigns a couple of times each, but was mostly gvg by the time nightfall was released.

i'm gonna start gw again soon, but before i start the mammoth download again just a few questions.

has pvp moved on from heroway yet? if so, on to what? (i've seen ranger spike thrown around alot)

are the gwen skills necessary? just before i quit i saw the preview(v. generous) but never saw how they got adjusted.

any major nerfs/changes? ie like all the banter that went about with soulreaping and spirits

and anything else which is mildly interesting thats taken place in the last year?

i'd suggest you go read the update archives on the official wiki. i wouldnt know where to begin telling you what changed over the last 9 months.

PvE/PvP skills split?

Don't know of any other changes that would interest you, based on that short blurb.

The PvE-only ones aren't necessary, persay. Check some old threads on discussions about [[Ursan Blessing] and decide for yourself whether to use it or not. The other profession skills have made their way into PvE and PvP in some different roles that are meshed in with the meta builds, so you might want to look into stuff like [[Glyph of Immolation] and [[Body Blow].

[[Shadow Form] was the latest to hit the chopping block, getting direct damage cut to 50% in PvE (PvE and PvP have had their skills split, but someone else already mentioned that), and many shadowsteps now have aftercast. Update notes and developer updates will tell you more.

Gaile Gray got replaced with Regina Whoever, [pre][rawr][/pre] got hacked or something, perma-SF sins have nuked the economy with ectos, monthly tonics are now dropped by the Zaishen Chest, a new addition since the Zaishen Title, etc, etc.

For the future, HoM will move to have account-based features, PvE skills will be adjusted, and GW will be receiving very few or very slow updates, as there is only one full-time developer working on GW while everyone else focuses on GW2.

In short: You came back at a bad time. Leave while you can still get away.

Oh and did we mention the only "new thing they seem to want to put in the game is tonics and randomly pointless weekend events every week in a vain attempt to keep people interested.

Oh yea don't know if you figured it out yet but the economy is going down the drain...hard to make a buck off anything that doesn't require running elite dungeons over and over to get the end chest. Wich wouldn't be bad except that everyone is leaning so heavily on ursan builds that its hard for a good player who isn't running ursan to get in.
